August 2019 IC Ireland Barbados Trip The team members were Peter Hannon, Bryan Smyth, Declan Heavey , John O’Rourke[Captain], Bernie Griffiths and Clodagh Smyth. The team matches consisted of one ladies doubles with combined ages of 100+ years and two men’s doubles with combined ages of 105+ years and 120+ years and two mixed doubles with combined ages of 105+ and 110+ years. The venue was Barbados yacht Club which had 4 hard courts.There were 6 teams competing Barbados, USA, Bermuda/Bahamas combined, Canada, Austria and Ireland. Our team were all accompanied by our better halves, Clodagh Smyth who also played as a guest member. Derek Griffiths, Liz Heavey, Liz O’Rourke and Jane Hannon We played Canada , Barbados and Austria with some very competitive matches but unfortunately no overall victory in any match. As a result we finished 6th. The Barbados IC President Peter Symmonds Club Captain Brian Cadogan and Team captain Jimmy Tasker had put a great deal of effort and organisation into the event. Brian Cadogan was given a tie as Honorary member of our club in appreciation of the significant contribution the IC of Barbados had made to organising this successful event The social activities were most enjoyable .
